Specimen Number4-8-025Alternate NumberR-5CommentsPinal schist, silicic alteration. Sample from just below zone of oxidation, with fresh pyrite and very minor oxide equivalents. Banded nature of specimen inherited from Pinal schist, which was pyrrhotitized, silicified, and sericitized. Stockwork veining in phyllic zone is best description of this sample. Likely low-grade material (<0.5% Cu). This material lies in a reentrant of phyllic alteration west of the center of biotite-orthoclase alteration, outward from R-4 material (sample 4-8-024).In Teaching CollectionNoMineral(s)pyritequartzsericiteRock NameschistDistrictMineral CreekMineRayExternal LinkMindatGeo-LocationundefinedSub-LocationundefinedDeposit TypePorphyry CopperGeo-Coords[1] Reference MaterialACL-115: Hoelscher, S.A., 1977, Structural Geology of the Ray mine, Recent Developments, AZ Conference AIME, Mining Geology Division Meeting, Ray Mine, AZ, April 16, 1977, 18 p.
