Specimen Number4-8-042Alternate NumberSM-2CommentsOracle quartz monzonite, Precambrian host to San Manuel system. This sample collected 400 ft. closer to ore zone relative to sample SM-1, near the interface between propylitic and argillic alteration facies. Chlorite has largely replaced biotite, and plagioclase is mostly replaced by kaolinite and montmorillonite with minor, weakly birefringent sericite. Quartz and K-spar are unaltered. Overall, more altered compared to SM-1.In Teaching CollectionNoMineral(s)chloritefeldsparkaolinitequartzRock Namequartz monzoniteDistrictSan ManuelMineSan ManuelExternal LinkMindatGeo-Location1200 ft from ore zoneSub-LocationundefinedDeposit TypePorphyry CopperGeo-Coords[1] Reference MaterialACL-110: Mine staff San Manuel Division, 1963, Magma Copper Company San Manuel Division General Information Booklet, internal company report, 21 p.
