Specimen NumberTC-1-3-006Alternate NumberSM-7CommentsLaramide quartz monzonite porphyry. Pervasive potassic alteration with abundant K-spar flooding and veining, as well as secondary biotite and sericite. Locally developed porosity reflects early (and now gone) anhydrite or calcite. Sample from reasonably deep in San Manuel-Kalamazoo system, and stable alteration assemblage is quartz + K-spar + sericite + chlorite. Chalcopyrite is dominant sulfide, this material likely runs 0.2% Cu.In Teaching CollectionYesMineral(s)chalcopyritek-sparpyritequartzRock Namealtered granodioriteDistrictSan ManuelMineSan ManuelExternal LinkMindatDeposit TypePorphyry CopperReference MaterialACL-110: Mine staff San Manuel Division, 1963, Magma Copper Company San Manuel Division General Information Booklet, internal company report, 21 p.
